I’m going to lose some friends with this, but I don’t care.
Here goes:

This is for everyone. The wealthy and the one’s struggling, the whites and the minorities, the men and the women, the .com guru – the high school student – and the average employee.

WHY are we here? 
I don’t mean on Symbolics.com.
I don’t mean Online.
I mean HERE – on this planet, doing what we’re doing.

IS THERE MORE?

Have you asked this before? 
I think we all have.

NOTE:  This isn’t a religious post, so don’t turn your nose up yet.

For those of us from the domain community… we do the same daily routine, we buy, sell, develop, park, monetize, read blogs, post in forums, look for deals, send out emails…
and then…
we go to bed.
Repeat the next day.

WHY?
What did we actually accomplish?

This is directed at the big boys and the small timers… we’re all guilty.

This goes out to everyone. 
WHAT are we doing?
Why are we here?

Are we doing a darn thing for the betterment of humanity, the world, the sick, the poor or as the Bible says:  “The least of these.”

Well I’m tired of being a phony, I’m tired of waking up with ARON on my mind… where has it gotten me?

The same goes to you, Mr. Big Shot.  What have the years of self-glorification accomplished?  What have you really DONE? 

Well Aron, I’ve made a great living…
STOP.
I don’t care.

That’s not the purpose of life.

WHAT IS?

For many people, there is no answer.
For religious people the answer is to glorify God.
For others the answer is to live a good life, and help others.
For some, the answer is to acquire the most toys, and then ???

I’m here to tell you, there IS more, and we aren’t doing our part.

Well Aron, what can I do???
I’m one guy, or I’m a girl, or I’m a minority, or I’m only 16…
Glad you asked.

1.  For the Girls out there:
2800 teens become pregnant every day in the US.
Thats over 1,000,000 per year!
1 in 2 rape victims is under the age of 18.

Does this bother you? 
It should.
Do something about it.
Donate your time to a cause, be an impact on the ones around you.
Give a talk… start a group… DO YOUR PART.

If you make an impact in your own school / community, that’s all that is asked of you.  Do YOUR part.

2.  TEENS:
There are 2.5 MILLION inmates in US prisions.
The average age:  19
85% are in prision because of grug-related crimes.Be an impact in your own school… at your church… somewhere.
There’s more to life than going to school, doing homework, playing XBOX and going to sleep.
A large percentage of those kids around you will end up in serious trouble.
Be an impact.
Be different.
Shine a light.

3.  Minorities:
The #1 cause of death in Blacks and Hispanics is homicide.
Hispanics have over a 25% drop out rate in the USA.
That’s over 1 in 4 won’t graduate.

Last week, I sat in on a talk that Rich Garza, former NFL player with the Eagles, gave to area high schools.
It’s about choices.

The choices to drink, to smoke, to use drugs, to stay in school…
to say NO to the boy’s when they want to go out at 1AM and get stupid.

Rich is a Latino, and all the kids were glued on him:  white, black, the pot heads, the sports jocks, the low-self esteem and the pretty blondes.

YOU can impact your friends, you can impact the people you hang out with.

Not in school?  Great… you’ve lived through it.  Give a talk to some students, start a group to help keep kids out of jail and off of drugs.  You’ve lived through the experiences.
INFORM.
INFLUENCE.
Be a mentor.

4.  Christians:
That’s me.  I don’t hide it.  Let your light shine. 
Why do people think “uck” when they hear of Christians?
Because most are HYPOCRITES.

Guilty.  ME.  I’m one.  We’re all sinners. 

Christians believe the main purpose of life is to Glorify the Lord in all we do.
Am I doing that?
NO.
Did I do it yesterday?
Not once.

How do I feel about that, today?  Pretty crappy.

“Well Aron, I attend church and donate money to a local school.”

Great, good start, but you’re not there.

We’re all sinners, all hypocrites, but the grace of God is why we aren’t wiped off the face of the earth.

Am I glorifying the Lord in what I do?  Sometimes.
Am I helping the poor, the needy?  Rarely.
Am I helping myself on a daily basis?  Constantly.

We are supposed to be the hands and feet of God… doing his work…
bringing glory to him and going “to all Nations” for all people.

Guilty.  I’ve been a poor representation.
But today is a new day.

We’ve got to step it up… we aren’t doing what we are supposed to.

Church has turned in to a social club where we make each other feel great about knowing “the truth”.
That’s pitiful.

We’re supposed to be OUT THERE… in the battle fields, loving others, helping them and living the life we know we should be living.

We aren’t doing that.

RELIGION is man’s attempt to reach God.
Stop being religious.

Start leading.

5.  The Average Employee:
Make an impact where you are placed.
There are people all around you… good people… lost people… hurting people.
Be a light for them.
Be encouraging… be a supporter… be DIFFERENT.

Be the only guy/girl who gives the time of day to those that other’s ignore.
Be the one that uplifts your fellow workers.
Get involved in a cause.
Start a work group that supports a ministry.

You are placed where you are for a reason… don’t let this opportunity pass you over.

FINALLY…
6.  The Rich – The Successful:

 Do you know how big of an impact you can make?
Do you know how many people are hurting right now?
Do you know how many families are losing sleep over tomorrow?

Can you pull one person out of unemployment, put him/her to work and feed a family? 
DO IT!
Do it now. 

I hate to break it to you, but Obama isn’t going to solve this anytime soon.
Politicians are all the same, they have agendas.
Many believed Obama was different.  You’re wrong.

All politicans have agendas.  Republicans, Democrats, Independents.
Don’t rely on Obama to fix this.

YOU CAN HELP END THIS.

NO?
Make one.
Can you put a person to work until things are back to normal? 
Do it.

The bottom line:

We are living in tough times.  Many of us are very fortunate and we aren’t doing a thing to impact the ones around us.

I’m GUILTY.

I believe if we all do our part, life will take on a whole new purpose, and we will go to bed knowing we’ve done all we can to improve the lives of those around us.
